Pop-up stores are a massive trend in Korea, especially in hip districts like Seongsu, offering unique brand experiences. This post taps into the hype around Musinsa Beauty and the universal appeal of scoring freebies at these events.
Seongsu is Seoul's hottest district for trendy pop-up stores and cafes, drawing huge crowds. Musinsa is a dominant online fashion and beauty retailer in Korea, making their pop-ups highly anticipated events.
Yo, what's good, it's Mui here! So last week I hit up Seongsu and was just vibing, checking out some pop-ups, right? LMFAOOO but then I went to post about it and realized the Musinsa Beauty pop-up I went to was already DONEZO. Like, it ran from March 25th to April 5th and I'm out here posting after the fact 💀. So yeah, just gonna archive this real quick, no cap. This was my first time ever checking out a Musinsa Beauty pop-up spot, you know, the ones I always see in those trend reports? There was a whole line, and they literally blocked off the entrance once enough people were in, like we were fish in a *gaduri yangsik* farm, no chill. The Lumir One Coat Glow Lip Tint packaging had this cool wavy vibe, and they totally matched the store tables to it, which was a nice touch. NGL, I was hyped to see so many cool-tone products, even did a quick cool-tone test! Saw some eyeshadow palettes too. Honestly, the Musinsa Beauty pop-up space itself wasn't that big, which lowkey surprised me. But those giant mock-up models? They totally caught my eye, had me wondering how much they'd cost, thinking maybe they weren't too bad since the shape was simple, lol. And then, the main event, the *gacha* machine that everyone was there for! You just had to follow them on KakaoTalk, Insta, or Musinsa Beauty to get one spin. I scored a liquid glitter! My friend ended up with some blue highlighter or shadow, idk. But get this, Seongsu was so packed that two of my friends, who both use LG U+ for their phone service, couldn't even get the Musinsa app to load. They literally gave up 😭. I'm not usually a pop-up fiend, but after this visit and post, I had a major realization: people aren't really going for the 'experience' as much as they are for the freebies and giveaways, no cap. Like, everyone was just bee-lining for the events, barely even looking at the actual products. And all the bloggers? Just focused on what freebies you could snag. As someone who designs spaces, that's kinda sad, but hey, learned something new today! Anyway, Seongsu pop-ups are fun, wish I lived closer, fr fr.
